Review Process

A rigorous double-blind peer review, with automated similarity and AI-content screening on every upload โ€” safeguarding the quality and integrity of SIMDTE 2027.

DOUBLE-BLIND PEER REVIEW

Judged on merit, not identity

In double-blind review, the identities of authors and reviewers are withheld from one another throughout the process. Every submission is evaluated solely on the quality, rigour and contribution of the work.

๐Ÿ™ˆ

Authors are anonymous to reviewers

Identifying details are removed so reviewers cannot be influenced by authorship, affiliation or reputation.

๐Ÿ”’

Reviewers are anonymous to authors

Reviewer identities are kept confidential, protecting impartial and candid evaluation.

AUTOMATED ON EVERY UPLOAD

Integrity checks โ€” run instantly, shown instantly

Each time a manuscript is uploaded โ€” initial or revised โ€” it is automatically screened for text similarity and AI-generated content. Both results are displayed to the author immediately, and both must meet the thresholds below to proceed.

๐Ÿ”

Similarity Check

Text similarity / plagiarism screening

< 20%

required to proceed. Submissions at or above 20% are returned for revision before review.

๐Ÿค–

AI-Content Check

AI-generated content detection

< 20%

required to proceed. AI assistance is acceptable only within the policy below.

RESPONSIBLE USE OF AI

AI may assist your writing โ€” never your data

The use of AI tools is acceptable provided they are not employed to manipulate or fabricate data, and only assist the writing process and language improvement. AI-generated content must remain below 20%, and any use of AI must be disclosed by the authors.

Acceptable

โœ“ Language editing, grammar and proofreading
โœ“ Improving clarity, readability and structure
โœ“ Assisting the writing process

Not permitted

โœ— Generating, altering or fabricating data or results
โœ— Manipulating analysis, findings or evidence
โœ— Producing substantive research content presented as original without disclosure
Disclosure required:  Authors must declare any use of AI tools in their submission. Undisclosed or non-compliant use may lead to rejection.

HOW IT WORKS

The review workflow, step by step

1

Submission & Automated Integrity Screening

On upload, every manuscript is automatically screened for text similarity and AI-generated content. The two results are displayed to the author instantly. A paper must meet both thresholds before it can proceed.

2

Editorial Desk Screening

Editors verify scope alignment, formatting, ethical compliance and the integrity-check results. Papers outside scope or below standard are returned or declined at this stage.

3

Double-Blind Anonymisation

All author-identifying information is removed from the manuscript so that reviewers assess the work without knowing who produced it โ€” and authors never learn reviewer identities.

4

Assignment to Independent Reviewers

Each paper is assigned to at least two qualified, independent expert reviewers with no conflict of interest with the authors or the subject matter.

5

Independent Evaluation

Reviewers assess the paper against defined criteria โ€” relevance, originality, methodology, contribution, clarity and ethics โ€” and submit structured, confidential recommendations.

6

Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer consensus, the editorial team issues one of four outcomes: Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject.

7

Revision & Re-Screening

Revised manuscripts are re-uploaded and automatically re-checked for similarity and AI content. Both thresholds must be met again for the revision to be considered.

8

Final Decision & Publication Pathway

Accepted papers proceed to camera-ready preparation and the applicable publication pathway, subject to editorial and indexing policies.
